Our Building

Lake Merritt United Methodist Church is located at the southeast end of Lake Merritt. Situated next to a 25-story apartment complex, we are not far from the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center. Our main entrance is on Lakeshore Avenue where there is street partking and our parking garage (which is only open by prior arrangement). Our administrative center entry is at the rear of the facility on First Avenue, where there is a small parking lot.

MAJOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION IS CURRENTLY UNDERWAY AT OUR END OF LAKE MERRITT

• View the suggested directions for the easiest way around the construction.
• Our parking lot on First Avenue is now only accessible via an easement.
• First Avenue no longer circles around to Lakeshore Avenue.
• You now must make a distinct right turn near E. 16th & First Avenue to continue onto Lakeshore Avenue, which is now a cul-de-sac.
• 14th Street along the perimiter of the lake has been torn down. Follow the detour signs.
  • Please allow sufficient time for maneuvering the detours and finding parking.
  • We do not recommend the use of online map/direction sites to locate the church. Use GPS with caution.

PARKING is no longer permitted on First Avenue and is limited on Lakeshore Ave (most 2 hr limited during daytime, except Sundays and holidays). Some all-day parking is allowed on streets north and east of the church. Slightly further from the church there is street parking near Laney College and the Oakland Museum. Please beware of parking restrictions during some hours of the week. Please allow enough time to park and walk to the church.
