Adventures with Jesus: A Fun Faith Trip
June 7, 2026 – September 6, 2026
This summer at Lake Merritt UMC, we’re taking a joy-filled faith journey with Jesus—an adventurous, life-giving trip where grace interrupts the ordinary and Christ invites us to follow. In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus calls surprising disciples, heals the hurting, sends us out with compassion, teaches in vivid parables, feeds the hungry, and meets us in the storm.
This series is for anyone longing for faith that feels alive again—curious, courageous, and full of wonder. Pack light. Bring your questions. Expect Jesus to show up.
Along this journey, we are also blessed to welcome guest speakers from Path 1, Discipleship Ministries, and Climate Justice Ministries Task Force of our Annual Conference who will help us deepen our understanding of discipleship, renewal, Climate Justice and Creation Care and the movement of the Spirit in today’s church. Their presence connects our local stories at LMUMC with the wider mission of the United Methodist Church – reminding us that we are part of something larger than ourselves.

Trinity Sunday
Crossing
Today, we conclude our Come, Follow Me discipleship worship series with the final chapter in Peter’s journey: Crossing.
Over these past weeks, we have followed Peter through his calling, courage, failures, restoration, service, and proclamation of the risen Christ. We look at Acts 10:34-48, in which Peter is challenged to step outside his comfort zone and tell the good news to people who are not Jewish. Now, Peter is led across another threshold to gentiles — crossing cultural, religious, and social boundaries to discover that God’s love is wider than he imagined.
We will hear about KUMI school in Uganda and also how our church is crossing to share God’s expansive love for all. We have a celebration of baptism and receiving of new members. Join us.

Pentecost Sunday
Filled and Sent
Today, we gather on this Pentecost Sunday to celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit. In Acts 2, the Spirit comes like wind and fire, filling the disciples with courage, hope, and new life.
Our worship theme, Filled and Sent, reminds us that God not only fills us with the Spirit, but also sends us into the world to share Christ’s love, justice, and compassion. May we open our hearts again to the Spirit’s movement among us and be renewed for the journey ahead. Join us.

Proclaiming
Today, we continue our Come, Follow Me discipleship worship series: Proclaiming.
We continue following in the footsteps of Peter’s discipleship journey. Throughout this series, we have witnessed Peter’s calling, his courage, his struggles, his failures, and ultimately, his transformation through the grace of Christ.
Today, we encounter Peter standing boldly before the people, proclaiming the risen Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. The one who once denied Jesus now becomes a witness of resurrection hope.
As we gather, we will also hear how God is at work through the Sierra Leone School Project — a living testimony of faith, compassion, and shared mission. Join us.

After failure, Jesus meets Peter not with condemnation, but with breakfast, grace, and a question: “Do you love me?” Each time Peter responds, Jesus calls him deeper—“Feed my sheep.”
This Sunday, we continue our journey of discipleship by discovering that love for Christ is not merely spoken—it is lived through service. We are reminded that God is a God of second chances, restoring us and calling us into meaningful participation in God’s healing work in the world.
Come and explore how our love for Christ becomes visible in the way we care for others.
