Building the foundations for lasting positive impact
The Sierra Leone School Project broke ground to construct The Safieko Preparatory School in March 2024. The school was opened in 2025 with four classrooms and two offices. Safieko Preparatory School now offers quality primary education to 60 eager young learners in a community where demand is high and resources are limited. With a dedicated local team, strong international partnership through Lake Merritt United Methodist Church, and national accreditation underway, the foundation for long-term impact is in place. The school is steadily building a sustainable path toward brighter futures for children and their families.

The annual Jollof Rice Fundraising Dinner is the most anticipated Oakland-based event of the year for SLSP. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about current projects at the Safieko Preparatory School, success stories, and new opportunities for growth.
