Pastoral and Staff Vacation Schedule
Pastor Sunae will be on vacation for the next two weeks from 6/17-6/29. Please call Pastor Dale for any pastoral care during this time. Our Church Administrator, Deacon Ken, will be on vacation from June 24-30th. If you would like to submit any reservation requests or e-blast announcements before the end of June, please reach out to the office by next Thursday, June 20.
No Yoga 6/27 and 7/4
There will be no Yoga class on Thursday, June 27th or July 4th. Class will resume at noon on Thursday, July 11th.
Our Town

Pinole Community Players presents Thornton Wilder’s 1938 Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Our Town,” which expresses part of the spiritual essence of Christianity and other religions through the story of a small, fictional New England town in the early 1900’s. LMUMC member Susannah Wood has a leading role in the play. Performances will be held at Pinole Community Playhouse. Visit this link to purchase tickets. If you would like to submit an announcement for our weekly e-blast, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Your event must take place within one month of being published.
- Please provide a headline/title that includes the dates of your event.
- Have a fully prepared description of your event. Generally, administrative staff will not be available to edit your content.
- Please be succinct; try to keep your description to no more than four sentences, providing key facts.
- If you require a longer background, please provide a PDF (so that it may be linked on the events page) in addition to your headline and brief description.
- To support shorter narratives please consider providing a graphic that illustrates your event.
If you would like your announcement read during Sunday worship, please indicate that in your submission and copy Pastor Sunae.

Sound Bath
6:45pm Friday, June 14th
Our Sound Bath returns this Friday, June 14th with special guest musician and sound healer Maryzelle Ungo. You may learn more about Maryzelle by checking out her bio on our Eventbrite page.
What better way to end your week than by slowing down and relaxing, surrounded by meditative vibrations and melodies? Be immersed in flowing sounds as you sit in a chair or lie on the floor with your own mat, blanket, and/or pillow. Admittance for the church community is donation-based; $20 is suggested via cash, check, or Venmo. No RSVP needed. Doors open at 6:30 pm; please arrive by 6:45. Program begins promptly at 7:00pm. If you enjoyed hearing the Musical Chairs Quartet of Oakland perform recently at our church, they will be playing in concert again, this time as members of the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony (BARS). The concert will be held at 7:30pm on Saturday, June 22 at the Herbst Theatre, 401 Van Ness Ave, in San Francisco’s Civic Center and will feature Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with special guest soloists and full chorus, as well as Ethel Smyth’s Overture to The Botswain’s Mate and Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait. Tickets, including senior and student tickets, may be purchased at www.bars-sf.org.

California Nevada Annual Conference Session
Friday, June 7 – Monday, June 10
The 176th California-Nevada Annual Conference Session begins this Friday, June 7th. Please pray for all the delegates, both laity and clergy, and for the work of the body this week.
The annual conference is the “basic unit” or organizational body in The United Methodist Church. Annual conferences are defined geographically, and each year across the denomination, the clergy members of the conference meet with an equal number of lay members for a session of worship, fellowship, and conducting the business of the conference, which may last three to five days. The area bishop presides over these meetings.
Sessions of the annual conference are historically a time for the people called Methodists to gather and account for the work they have done with the resources God has given them in the past year. Annual conference sessions are a holy time to discern God’s will for the future of the church, a time when persons called to ministry are commissioned, ordained, and recognized, and a time when clergy and lay personnel and financial resources are deployed for ministry. Above all, annual conference sessions are connectional gatherings where those assembled experience the presence of the Holy Spirit and are revived for God’s holy work.
The Annual Conference session will consider legislation, recognize retiring clergy, celebrate a Memorial service to honor clergy and their spouses who have passed during the previous year, and fix the appointments of pastors. John Champion’s Grad Party

Hello Friends and Family, I am so proud of John and his graduation from High School.
Please join us as we celebrate John and his perseverance, resilience, and stellar accomplishments. Great to have another child college bound AND to have a young man setting school record for most “kills”. I guess it was worth all of the slats he knocked out of the deck as a 14 year old to produce this “killer” volleyball player.

Lake Park & Lake Merritt UMC Merger Celebration
Pentecost Sunday, May 19th
Join us as we celebrate this historic merger of our two significant churches and consecrate our ministry and mission before God with the blessing of our annual conference, churches, friends and families near and far. You will hear the stories of our two churches as we become one. Our own Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño will preach the sermon and bless our merger. Bay District Superintendent Rev. Sun Hee Kim will join and lead us. Immediately after the service, you are invited to take a church photo in front of the church on Lakeshore Ave. Share this invitation with your family and friends!
The Pentecost Merger Celebration Worship service is on May 19th at 10:15 a.m. followed by a BBQ lunch gathering. The main BBQ will be provided by the church. We invite our church family to bring the sides, salads, and desserts for our fellowship lunch. Judi Fabrizio is helping organize the sign-ups for the potluck dishes. Please read the information below and see Judi to sign up or ask any questions.
Pentecost Potluck Information
Dear Friends – I so appreciate your willingness to provide “Special Foods” for the Potluck along with the Barbecue. A couple of “helps” for me are:
- Label your container with your name (if you want it back).
- If you have a cake, pie or other item that needs to be divided, please cut before placing on the serving table.
- Everything needs to be Table Ready, sliced and covered (serving utensils will be supplied).

LIFT Concert Follow-up
Our annual LIFT concert was a tremendous success! The spirit was lifted high and we raised over $8,000! The concert is now available on the church’s YouTube channel here.
