Our Food Ministries invite members of the congregation and the public to volunteer with our monthly food pantry. You are welcome to volunteer in different ways: On Fridays, volunteers help receive and set up the food pantry (10 AM – 11 AM), and on Saturday, volunteers will facilitate food distribution (8 AM – 10 AM).

The Oakland Interfaith Community Choir takes center stage for its annual Summer Concert—its only full-length featured performance of the year.
Rehearsing just once a month, this remarkable ensemble brings together singers from across faiths, cultures, and backgrounds, united by a shared love of music and community. This concert is the culmination of their work: a joyful, powerful expression of what can happen when voices come together with intention and spirit.

Ride for Palestine:
Ride of Return
Sunday, July 19
Join Ride for Palestine Sunday, July 19 for their Fifth Annual Ride for Palestine, a day of solidarity along the 14-mile scenic San Francisco Bay. The ride is designed to be enjoyable for cyclists of all skill levels and the post-Ride event, Gather for Palestine will include delicious Palestinian food, music, dancing, and more.
All funds raised this year will support MECA’s work in Palestine.

Adventures with Jesus: A Fun Faith Trip
June 7, 2026 – September 6, 2026
This summer at Lake Merritt UMC, we’re taking a joy-filled faith journey with Jesus—an adventurous, life-giving trip where grace interrupts the ordinary and Christ invites us to follow. In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus calls surprising disciples, heals the hurting, sends us out with compassion, teaches in vivid parables, feeds the hungry, and meets us in the storm.
This series is for anyone longing for faith that feels alive again—curious, courageous, and full of wonder. Pack light. Bring your questions. Expect Jesus to show up.
Along this journey, we are also blessed to welcome guest speakers from Path 1, Discipleship Ministries, and Climate Justice Ministries Task Force of our Annual Conference who will help us deepen our understanding of discipleship, renewal, Climate Justice and Creation Care and the movement of the Spirit in today’s church. Their presence connects our local stories at LMUMC with the wider mission of the United Methodist Church – reminding us that we are part of something larger than ourselves.
