This year’s BBQ will be focused on thanking our wonderful Reverend, Pastor Sunae, and welcoming the start of a new year at Lake Merritt and Lake Park UMC’s!
The Barbecue will be held after church on Sunday, July 30. Our special friends, Laurel and Randy, are cooking up hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages, and veggie burgers; as well as bringing buns, condiments, and special toppings. Can we ever outdo them? Let’s try!
You may bring a potluck dish to share, as follows:

Lake Merritt United Methodist Church will soon be undergoing major roof repairs from August 26 through September 3.
Please mark your calendars for Sunday, August 27th, and Sunday, September 3rd, when our morning worship services will be moved to the evenings beginning at 5:30PM.
During this period there will be limited daytime access to the church. FOLLOW this LINK for more details on the roofing project and church accessibility.

This Sunday’s beatitude is “Blessed are the Peace Makers”. Sister Sherri Elinson walked where Jesus walked on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and she will be sharing what it means to be a peacemaker. She shares, “Get up, go ahead, do something! Move you, peace makers, for you shall be called children of God!”

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” -Matthew 5:10-12
We are getting to the tail end of Jesus’ words on “Blessed are you…” or “Happy are you…” This Sunday’s blessing is a difficult one: Be happy because you’re persecuted! That’s a bit much, right? Join us as we reflect on this scripture and what it teaches in your life!
