Growing and Transforming in God’s Generosity
We begin our Annual Stewardship Program this Sunday. As we enter this season of growth and transformation, our theme is: “Growing and Transforming in God’s Generosity.” Over the next two weeks, we invite Christ to dwell in our hearts through faith – that we may be rooted and establish in God’s love, and, together with all the saints, grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ and live like Jesus. (Ephesians 3:17-18)
We look forward to continuing our shared ministry with renewed vision: An Inclusive Christian Community feeding the spiritual and physical hunger of Oakland. The way we steward our God-given resources has the potential to make a profound and lasting impact.
We invite you to pray and reflect on how your ongoing generosity enables us to expand our reach – serving our inclusive Christian community and those most vulnerable among us. This Sunday we will reflect on the flow of God’s grace in our lives and ministry. Join me this Sunday as we grow and transform together in God’s generosity.

The Widow and the Judge
In Luke 18:1–8, Jesus tells the story of a persistent widow who demands justice from an indifferent judge. Her relentless pursuit is not just about personal gain—it’s a bold claim that justice matters, even in the face of resistance. As Amy-Jill Levine reminds us, this parable challenges us to reflect on our own persistence: Are we as committed to justice as this widow? Do we trust that God, unlike the unjust judge, hears our cries and acts with compassion? Join us. Rev. Mary Elyn Bahlert is preaching this Sunday.
