This Sunday, we celebrate All Saints Sunday. All Saints (November 1 or the first Sunday in November) is a day of remembrance for the saints, with the New Testament meaning of all Christian people of every time and place. We celebrate the communion of saints as we remember the dead, both of the Church universal and of our local congregations. We remember our saints in our lives. Bring a cup that represents your saint. We will have a moment to share about her or his life during the gratitude and prayer time.

Annual Thanksgiving Community Meal
Planning for our Annual Thanksgiving Community Meal is well on the way.
Due to Covid19 pandemic, our Thanksgiving dinner will be Take-out only.
There won’t be indoor dining this year.
We are thankful that we could continue to serve our community during this difficult time with inflation and
pandemic.
We will be serving the Thanksgiving take-out meal on November 24, 2022
from 12 noon to 1:30pm.
New Office Administrator
As of October 24th we will have a new office administrator at LMUMC. Her name is Randi Hoy, and some of you already know her as a volunteer at Lake Lunches, where she has served since the pandemic began. From her volunteer work with us, she is already familiar with our church, many of the people, and its programs; she has office administration, operations, and management skills from working with many different types of people and in a variety of work environments; she is confident, motivated and strikes as being a quick learner. We give God thanks for the work of the SPRC and our new Office Administrator, Randi Hoy. We welcome her and pray for her ministry with us. (From SPRC Chair, Juliet Hannafin)

As our church is coming back to worship in person after vaccinations and booster shots, so are our children. We have a broad age range of children coming back to church and we are in need of Sunday school teachers for younger children for age appropriate programs. September 18th is Rally Sunday!
As our children go back to school and fall is in full swing, we gather to celebrate a new start and a renewed effort in involving children, youth, and adults in Sunday morning classes for Christian faith formation opportunities.
We lift up our children, youth, and all learners!
We also gather this Sunday to remember our role as teachers or helpers to help our children
and all learners to find passion and calling and deepen our relationship with God,
self, and each other.
We will bless our times of prayer and worship so that we may be enriched in our spirits.

This Week’s Sermon Leader
Welcome to Pride Sunday worship at Lake Merritt and Lake Park UMC. We have a guest speaker, Rev. Dr. Israel (Izzy) Alvaran from the Reconciling Ministry Networks and his short bio is described below. As a reconciling congregation, we follow Jesus Christ by loving and accepting: all ages, all races, all abilities, all culture, all ethnicities, all national origins, all education levels, all gender identities, all sexual orientations, all socioeconomic statues, all family and marital statuses. Come celebrate Pride Sunday with us this Sunday.
Rev. Dr. Israel (Izzy) Alvaran
Pronouns: he/him
Izzy is a self-avowed gay United Methodist elder from the Philippines appointed as RMN’s Organizer in the Western and North Central jurisdictions.
He has also served as pastor, conference youth director, faculty in United Methodist educational institutions, labor union organizer, and economic justice organizer with the General Board of Church and Society. He earned his Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees in the Philippines and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA. A former political refugee, he is passionate about human rights and believes that queer justice is inherently intersectional.
