Thriving in Community

The 177th Session of the California-Nevada Annual Conference took place from June 27 – 30, 2025 in Sacramento with the theme “Thriving in Community”.  This sacred time brought clergy and laity together to give account of their ministry, discern God’s will for the future, and celebrate those called to ordained ministry. In worship, legislation, and holy conferencing, we reflected about what it means to be “Thriving in Community”.  The gathered community honored retiring clergy, remembered those who have passed, and fixed pastoral appointments for the coming year.

Above all, it was a Spirit-filled time of connection, renewal, and commitment to God’s work in the world in this critical time.  Your lay delegate, Tom Huetteman, Laurel Williams, and Pastor Sunae will share their reports and we will listen to Bishop Sandy Olewine’s powerful opening video message.  Join us.

This Sunday, July 6th, we will be honoring everyone who will be celebrating their birthdays in July. There will be birthday cake for all to share during Fellowship time immediately following Worship.

All Church Bar-B-Q 

July 20th

Join us for our annual all church Bar-B-Q on Sunday, July 20th, right after Worship. There will be sausages, hotdogs, burgers, and veggie burgers hot off the grill, with all the fixins.

Food 4 Thought Takes Summer Break

The Food 4 Thought small group will be taking a short summer break and not meeting the first Sunday of July. We will meet again on the evening of August 3rd to continue with our DVD/discussion series “Living the Questions”. This is a great series to prompt thought and discussion, and since each DVD topic stands alone, missing a gathering is no problem! The August gathering would be a great time for anyone interested in checking out the series; please see Laurel Williams if you would like more information, or would like to be added to the email reminder list. Everyone is welcome!

 If you would like to submit an announcement for our weekly e-blast, please adhere to the guidelines found here. All submissions are due Tuesday by noon.

Commitment

This Sunday, we gather around the story of Elijah and Elisha—a story of sacred transitions, tenacious faith, and bold commitment. As Elijah prepares to depart, Elisha refuses to leave his side, embodying the deep spiritual commitment to walk with and learn from those who came before him. In a time when it’s easier to turn away than to stay present, Elisha’s perseverance calls us to consider: What does faithful commitment look like in our lives today?

In a world that constantly shifts, our worship this week centers on grounding ourselves in relationships, purpose, and the Spirit who continues to call us forward. Whether you’re new to faith or walking a lifelong journey, you are welcome here—just as you are. Join us. Chris Logan is preaching as Pastor Sunae is attending the California Nevada Annual Conference Session in Sacramento.

The 177th Session of the California-Nevada Annual Conference will take place from June 27-30, 2025 at the SAFE Credit Union Convention in Sacramento, with the theme “Thriving in Community.”  Pastor Sunae, our lay delegate, Tom Huetteman and Laurel Williams, Rev. Myrna Bernadel-Huey, Rev. Ken Schoon, and Rev. Stephanie Gamero will be attending.

How Majestic Is Your Name In All The Earth

This Sunday, we reflect on the majesty of God and the grace that sustains us. Psalm 8 reminds us of the awe-inspiring truth that the Creator of the universe has crowned humanity with purpose and responsibility—to care for creation with reverence and love. Romans 5 proclaims that we now stand in grace, held by a love that brings peace and hope, even in suffering. Come worship the One who is both sovereign and near, majestic and merciful.
